Pilot Program
Training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children
Referral Form
PowerPoint Presentation 11-10-2008
The Texas Department of State Health Services, through the Mental Health Transformation Grant, has offered Mental Health Connection an opportunity to be a part of research on the effectiveness of TF-CBT. The study will compare training and ongoing support in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with training only. Because the study involves many of the concepts included in the pilot program recommended by the Trauma Learning Community, the Trauma Implementation Team is working with the state to support the study.
More than 50 individuals at 13 agencies in Tarrant County have already received training in TF-CBT, and are now participating in regular consultations and evaluation of fidelity to the model with experts in the Evidence-Based Practice. Another community will receive the training in TF-CBT, but not the ongoing consultation and fidelity evaluation. The study's result will provide one measure of the impact transformation has on consumer outcomes.
Tarrant County must enroll 75 children and adolescents between the ages of 8 and 18 in the research program by the end of May 2009. Click here for the referral form if you have clients who might fit the study profile.
